So you've dropped by the Tai Pei Buddhist Center at Kallang Bahru as well as the Australian International School along Lorong Chuan. But do you know who did up the beautiful interior decorations for the former and who was the fitment manufacturer for the latter?

Here's introducing you to Interior Engineering, a HDB industrialist specializing in the art of making your commercial and residential properties pretty!

First set up in 1980, the company of seven is run by Shen. As the principal designer and sole proprietor of Interior Engineering, Shen is trained in architectural and interior designing. He's been in the line for the last 25 years and his past accolades include ID projects at the old World Trade Centre, Funan Centre, Trademark Building as well as his pet project at Changi Airport Terminal 2.

"Interior Decoration is a very intense and competitive business. One has to always be in tune with the latest trends and market needs. I try to do my bit by reading up on magazines and surfing websites by and by" opines Shen. Armed with a MBA from the University of Western Sydney, Shen assures that he is still looking forward to finding his ultimate masterpiece. " There are always a few pet projects that are more alluring, that brings satisfaction. But there is always the urge to do better!"

Interior Engineering currently resides at HDB's development at YS-ONE. Having gotten the unit through ebidding, Shen is satisfied with his little private workspace and studio. "The few business prospects that have visited us are often very impressed (with our office). It's more professional I guess." offers Shen.

The company currently does not have a website of its own and plans to make use of HBiz's URL listing as a stepping-stone. "I'm pleasantly surprised that HDB provides such services. I'll definitely be making use of it," grins Shen.
