One Number for all your interactions with the Government
From 1 January 2009, all entities that are registered in Singapore, such as businesses, local companies, limited liability partnerships (LLPs), societies, representative offices, healthcare institutions and trade unions, will have a Unique Entity Number (UEN) as its identification number.
What is UEN?
- It is the standard identification number of an entity.
- UEN shall be for registered entities as NRIC is for Singapore citizens.
- The UEN uniquely identifies the entity to the Singapore Government.
How does UEN affect you?
- The UEN shall be used for all your interaction with government agencies.
For example, you can use it for filing your corporate tax returns and applying for import and export permits. It shall also replace all other identification numbers issued to you by different government agencies.
- Businesses and local companies currently registered with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) will retain their ACRA Registration Number as their UEN.
- Other than businesses and local registered companies, all other registered entities will be issued with a new UEN by the respective agencies.
